Dan Gilyeat Announces His Support of the FairTax

October 29th, 2009 - Kansas City, KS - Dan Gilyeat, candidate for U.S. Congress, today endorsed the FairTax bill that has been introduced in Congress (HR 25). It has also been introduced in the Senate (S 1025). Dan feels this is the best way to end the punishing progressive tax system we now have by no longer taxing income.

This is a concept some people have trouble grasping. There would be no Income Tax forms to fill out because there would be no Income Tax. You would keep almost your entire check. Only state and local taxes would affect your bottom line and if your State adopted the Fairtax you would keep what you send them too.

Taxes bases on income kill productivity. The FairTax system would capture the underground economy where people work "off the books" or derive an income from illegal sources because these people purchase new items like everyone else. You could control how much you are taxed by saving more and spending less.

The fair tax is a progressive national sales tax only on "new" good and services and would be administered by state taxing authorities. It would eliminate taxes on income, capital gains, personal, corporate and business taxes. It would do away with gift taxes, estate taxes, the alternative minimum tax, self-employment taxes and the Social Security tax. No more loopholes for Corporations to exploit, no more fear of audits or churches loosing their tax exempt status.

Best of all it would abolish the IRS. It would be a giant step in the direction of repealing the 16th Amendment though additional legislation.
